Hi All,
Life has been absolutely crazy these past couple of months and so I thought I’d give some updates and also let you know what I’m working on over the next little while.
Book Proposal
Most of you know that I’d recently put a book review forward to Moody Publishers which unfortunately didn’t get taken up, but thankfully it was actually incredibly positive. The aquisitions editor gave me some great encouragements with an open door for future proposals.
As I mentioned in a tweet this week I’m essentially seeing this as a necessary step forward. It was highly unlikely that my first book proposal would be taken forward, but the excercise was very rewarding. I learned so much about the proposal process and got to chat with another friend from the GCD writing cohort about her experience going through the same thing. I’m glad I did it and I think I’ll be far more confident in future.
Move, move, move
Life seems to be moving at an incredible pace at the moment, first with the physical move that we just went through, but also into a new job and out of our own business. Over the Covid-Era we’d fumbled our way into starting a business around my Better Half’s christian artwork, that is to say artwork inspired by her faith, which paid dividends when it came to life lessons but little more than pennies in actual currency. With Anna about to retrain and another two moves, first to Reading, UK and then again onto wherever Mrs. Ravenhill ends up going to do her Masters, we decided it would be best to close shop. The new job presented itself the morning after my proposal was rejected and was very much a blessing all in all.
New Content
Always on the lookout for new ways to expand our minds and especially new books to push our noses into, the Better Half and I have decided to start a podcast in the new year which focusses on Reading as a Christian. I’ll add more information as it comes but we’re looking to start recording some episodes soon so I may even be able to share some clips with you.
Our working title is “Consider the Ravens”, a play on words from Luke 12:24.
Next Week + Advent
I’ll be returning to the regularly scheduled newsletter format next week, but be aware that though I’ll be continuing the series on 2 Tim 3:16-17, I’ll also be doing a shorter Advent Reading each week looking forward to Christ’s return from the 28th of November. This wont replace the 2 Tim 3:16-17 series but will be in addition, though I don’t know exactly how that will look as of yet.
As always, I’d love to hear from you, any comments you have are welcome.
Grace and Peace,
Adsum Try Ravenhill
