Good choice! I think everyone I've spoken to who has preached from or through it has agreed. I can understand why it seems like such a daunting task though.
I have long made the case that another book no one wants to preach is 1 and 2 Chronicles. Thus, in my opinion, the Church is deficient in Chronicles. Not sure how or what this looks like, but if this is God’s Word and we are not generally preaching from it, then we are missing out on something.
That's a solid choice. I'm considering going through the Chronicles in the new shorter devotional series, because there is so much meat there. Are there any particular passages that stand out to you, or have meant a lot to you over the years?
I'll add that a few years ago I actually read them alongside the rest of my OT reading plan, and I found that really fruitful. If I were introducing someone to the OT for the first time, I think Stephen's sermon and 1 Chronicles might be a good place to start.
Thank you for being honest Justin, that's really refreshing. If you do preach through it, I'd love to listen in. If you've not read Pastor, Jesus is Enough by Jeremy Writebol, I'd really encourage you to do so. It's a really great example of the multitude of ways Revelation speaks life into the church.
Maybe that should be the next book you go through on the Daily newsletter? Or perhaps just one a week? Imagine how many others out there struggle with exactly the same thing, and how much you could help them overcome it.
That is totally understandable, but I would encourage you to dig just below the surface and you'll find so much treasure hidden there. I'll do another post like this one later this year on genealogies. I hope you'll find it encouraging.
The first sermon I preached in college for a class, I chose a passage in Leviticus. I did not regret that choice!

You’ll never guess which book my Pastor preached from this morning.

I'll admit I thought of revelation as such a divisive book that I've avoided it for over a decade. Thanks for the encouragement to end that now!

Great post! For me, it’s Ezekiel. Grrr 😅

I really struggle to read and engage with genealogies!
